hey guys. Quickly as possible. I've got two drives that WILL NOT respond. They were working fine and then were taken out to be put in another computer. Now, EITHER of them will NOT take a drive letter. So, we can see the drive, but we can't access it or do anything to it.

We took it the geek squad (they did a good job actually). They did their best and used Linux to try and recover one of the drives (this one only had backup files on it; the other drive is dead in its tracks). They said they could see the files when the installed the drive in a linux system. They could see compressed and encrypted files. But, they said the files can't be moved to a new drive. Is that true?

I'm not understanding that if linux can see all the files on the drive, then why can't we copy them to a new drive. Should I try that? Its no problem for me to rig up a linux computer, but i dont want to do it if theres no point. Right now, my mom (its her business computer... she lost almost everything and needs it back or her business is screwed) is talking to a hard drive specialist and is about to spend $$$$$$$ to get the files recovered by taking the drive apart in a clean room.

Advice?
