Virus in recycler

According to AVG I hve a trojan horse virus called an ISTactivex.dll in my recycler folder. It is unable to remove it, however. I've tried to do so manually but I'm unable. I've unhidden the recycler files but search won't find it and neither can I. Part of the root is 'CONFLICT' and search tells me I don't have access. I even went into dos and following some instructions tried to access recycler there, but failed. Norton doesn't find this or any of the other 2 virus', by the way.

I'm determined to get rid of this last of 3 virus' I recently found. Can anyone advise?

O/S windows xp pro. Broadband.

use the console disk (or create one from www.bootdisk.com) - get the infected file names from www.symantec.com and boot from the recovery console - you will be able to delete the files from there...
