If youre using the system for gaming I would get AMD 64 4000 San Diego Core, you also might want to consider switching to a DFI motherboard, I have had a lot bad experiences with 939 socket asus motherboards, I would also go with Western Digital and Seagate, My maxtor 200 GB SATA died after 3 months

Also, Asus isnt a good brand for AMD processors, as ive heard. Go with DFI Lanparty boards, they pwn Asus.

If you switch to intel for some reason tho, Asus is the way to go.

:)

stick with the X2 the other guy doesnt konw what hes talking about

switch over to a DFI board.

DFI nF4 ultra-d

yeah but if you plan on gaming dont expect the duel core to be supper fast because remember it only ultilizes on one core... for now. haha later games that come out will support duel core. and btw whoever gave the link for the 7800GT, keep in mind the GT only has 20 pixel pipelines not 24.

I've gotta bring this back to the AMD processor:

AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 1GHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail

You say it's good for gaming. Question:

I was actually looking at the exact same Athlon 64 San Diego, but the 3700. The only difference I see is .2ghz in the frequency but a good 70 bucks. How big of a difference are we talking? And what's up with all the different names the similar models have? (ex. San Diego, Venice, New Castle)
