2 Explorer.exe processes

For the explorer.exe issue you might need to repair the OS...
* another thing you can try is renaming your local profile, then copying your desktop, favorites and my docs over to the new profile... ( let me know if you have never done this before).

Loading pink can actually be caused by this explorer issue... sounds weird but i have seen it before ( with red instead of pink )

try ending one of the explorer processes see what happens.

I think you know the answer to ending the process,

it opens up the 'Shut-Down' window.

Ending your explorer.exe shouldn't put you to the shutoff screen.... It should just blank your screen.
You should still have access to your task manager to create a new process ex: explorer. If you close one it shouldn't alter anything. however doing this everytime will become a pain.
