noob question, how to keep comp from lagging during gaming

i think i'm gonna format, but i've never done it before. i'll prob get a buddy of mine, a more capable techie than i am to help me out.
and it has probably been a while since i've updated any drivers, i'll try that aswell. thanks allot.

The majority of laptops have integrated graphics chipsets, which SUCK. And that is THE reason why it's lagging Gaurenteed.

uummm, stupid question, how do i know which driver to download. i have a dell notebook with an ati radon 7500. i run windows XP.i was on the ati website and there seems like there is an awfull lot that i can download, how do i pick the right one?
