If I wanted to boot from an external CD drive to install Linux from CD, but do not have an option to "boot from external CD drive" in the BIOS setup, what can I do?

if you could please give us some more information, what type of bios ur running and wat version if possible, mobo model number and such... it also depends on what cd you're trying to boot from, you could also try to find a windows 98 boot disk with cd rom and usb drivers on it and try to access it that way.

Unfortunately, there are very little ways to do this. To me it sounds like your BIOS or Motherboard neglects to support booting from USB. I had a similar problem with an Ext. USB HD that I never managed to fix. You probably need a bootdisk, but even though i dont know much about bootdisks i think it's very unlikely that a bd will work in your case.
Good luck :(
