I took someones hard drive to reformat is and install an operating system on it.
I did it on my machine and it works perfect. When he put it in his machine it would not boot. It would says "read error".

He has an older computer which has an unsplit IDE cable (no primary, slave). There are no jumpers to play around with.

Could this be the problem? Would a new IDE cable fix it or would you have to buy jumpers?

THANKS
