video card choice: core clock or memory clock?

I may be wrong, but doesn't the 6800GT support more stuff than the X800XL? Like Pixel Shader 3.0 or something.

yeah but I brought that up to my friend who owns the X800XL and whos story keeps changing about it's power, and typical ATI user "Oh SM3 doesn't matter, plus they are ditching that SM3 instructions anyway, theres 3 kinds, SM3 a,b and c, the 6xxx series only have like SM3A and the new ATI card will have SM3 a,b,c," none of which I've ever seen mentioned except by him so god knows whats up with that.

EITHER way, the 6800GT is at the very least equal with the X800XL whereas he SWEARS it beats it out...but as soon as you knock up the 6800GT core and memory clock by 10MHz boom, you're well ahead of the X800XL muchless when you start clocking it to Ultra speeds and beyond

And just to add to that, probably only like 1 out of 100 6800GT's CAN'T hit Ultra speeds.....
