EPoX is bringing out a socket 754 mobo based on the nForce4 chip with SLI.

From theinquirer.net:
Epox readies SLI Sempron board

SOURCES SAID motherboard company Epox is close to releasing a socket 754 Nforce 4 SLI unit that will support Sempron CPUs.

The board doesn't need two memory modules because it's only a single channel system, and is aimed at system integrators.

Because the board is socket 754, it's also cheaper than a socket 939 unit.

The upside for integrators is that they'll be able to sell systems using both AMD64, Nvidia chipset and SLI.

There's more details and a pic, here.

Becasue people think that 754 is old in which it is. But it still gets the job done for people and Gaming.

Yeah, socket 754 has pretty much fallen off the radar, even for the Sempron. AMD has future Sempron processors set for 939 last I checked their roadmap, which make sense especially since Athlons will migrate to M2/S1 soon enough

Either way, buying a Sempron for an SLI configuration is rather silly, you have a rather large imbalance

The s754 is a dead end socket, since all the X2's are and will be s939 based, and that's where AMD is basing its next generation of chips on. Aside from the dead (or low-end based) future of the s754, there is nothing really wrong with it. It's a low cost way of introducing high perfomance gaming, while still keeping the prases "SLI" and "A64" which can make or break a sale.

This board does have it's place in prebuilt systems.

SLI ready sempron systems (with a power supply that can barely power the intergrated :/ )

At least it is a ray of hope for those who actually bought 754's.

bah, that's the dumbest crap...by the time people who have 754s are ready to drop money on a SLI board and system...then they'd be able to afford a socket 939 system
