invalid drive specifications

hello... i have this problem with my cd-rom... i'm trying to install a new os after i reformatted my hard drive but when i try to open the cd-rom with a drive name of E: this message appears...
invalid drive specification

what should i do?? is there any problem with my bios or cmos set-up....is it hard to troubleshoot....
help pls...
 
Do you have some other removable media attached to your PC, like a digital camera or PDA that is trying to use drive letter E: also?
 
there is no other media device attached, so what should i do??
is my pc's problem so bad??
 
yah,,, i already formatted my drive and im receiving that when message each time i type E:<that's the letter assigned to my cd-rom> and press enter in the ms-dos mode
it always say invalid drive specifiation........ is it possible that there is only a loose wire connected to the cd-rom???
