usb trouble

i have a usb data stick, that is 256MB. i does not show up in my computer, or in disk management. when i insert it, the yellow balloons show, saying an embedded usb hub has been inserted. when i open device manager, it is there, and there are no errors with it. also the safely remove hardware box shows it.

when i go on its propeties, via the safely remove hardware box, or the device manager, and go on one of the tabs, i cant remamber what it is called, but there is a button that says "populate". when i click this it reports the size as 0MB, and says the disk is unreadable. is there any way i can format the disk, and get it working again?

Does it show up in My Computer? If so, right click on it and chose Format. Try that.

i have tried in other ports=doesnt work
i have tried other sticks=works
