I currently have the X800Pro, I had the 6800GT (I sold it to a customer) I recommend ATI to everyone. It is all on what you like. Everyone is different.

you screwed yourself there

So which one will benchmark higher.. and yeah I'd rather have a 7800GTX but that isnt the question at hand. People on this site have a habit of not reading the original post.

Lets try this.. one more time. 6600GT or X800GT, which will bench higher.

I know what you mean, but no one said anything about the 7800GTX...

1) the X800GT is faster then the 6600GT

2) The 6600GT has the power of 3
- SLI
-SM3
-high dynamic lighting or something

3) 6600GT is cheaper(at newegg)

4)

"ATI just announced its counter part, the X800GT card with good price performance ratio and wants to compete on the 6600GT range. As Nvidia knows, the Geforce 6600GT is too juicy a cake to give up without a fight, and therefore it just announced a new card branded as Geforce 6800XT. Nvidia 6800XT is nothing more than an eight pipeline 6800 card but in Nvidia's case it will be available for OEMs only. Nvidia will keep its price around $5 below ATI X800GT price and OEMs have to react to such a deal as it means $5 more greenies in their pockets. ATI doesn't have any other choice then to drop the OEM price of X800GT, which is already a very low priced part."

i was looking for benchmarks and came upond this...WHY CANT ANYONE THINK OF THEIR OWN NAMES, JUST 2 LETTErS!!!!

4) it really just depends if you want SM3...if you want Sm3 go with the 6600GT, but if you dont, i say go with the X800GT. cause it looks like it performs better, from what i hear

Splinter Cell benchmarks:
x800GT is better
FarCry:
x800GT is better
3DMark03:
6600GT is better
3DMark05:
x800GT is better
UT2004:
6600GT better at 1024x768, x800GT better at 2 higher resolutions, so it wins
Aquamark 3:
6600GT better at 1024x768, x800GT better at 2 higher resoultions, so it wins
Half-Life 2:
X800GT better 5/6 tests, so it wins here
RTCW:
6600GT is better
Red****: EFBB
6600GT is better
Doom 3:
6600GT is better

got this from a other forum

The 6600GT wins 4 tests, and the x800GT wins 6 tests. Although when the 6600GT won it won by a greater amount then when the x800GT won. So i would say performance is very equal, of course depending on the game. So buy which ever card is better at the games you play more. Now the prices and availability (at newegg, NOT looking at other stores!):

6600GT is widely available in many brands for $149 or less with rebates up to $20, for a price of $129
X800GT is available in just 2 brands for $143, and $165.

So the price is very equal also, only thing is the X800GT is not available as much, YET.

Conclusion:
So it looks like an absoulte Draw to me. Go with the X800GT if your a ATI fan, go with the 6600GT if your an Nvidia fan. If your not a fan of either then buy which ever one you can get for less money. Either way they have almost equal performance and price.

Bad move. IQ is discussed in every decent GPU review, and going by the screenies there's rarely much difference to be fair, especially when one is sacrificing such a great deal of performance in this case.

you never know if he "TRADED" his 6800GT for the x800pro, maybe the 6800GT didnt work for his system or something.

Might as well have, it was off topic regardless. The 7800GTX was me not remembering what card he mentioned and throwing some card that someone would obvoiusly rather have because its better.
