Hi I am new to the forums and thought I would seek some advice from other users. I am ready to buy everything I need and have been shopping around. I am ready to spend around $800.00 to build the machine. I already have a monitor and keyboard and the other little things I am just putting together the tower. Can I get some feedback and suggestions on a good setup? I want something fast and robust. I have a 7MBIT connection and want a killer machine. I would like to have 3.0 or larger for cpu and the rest I am not sure about right now. Please post your thoughts and keep in mind I have a budget of about $800. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I forgot to mention the computer will be used for some gaming. I run a lot of different applications and do a lot of downloading.

That one isnt bad either, BUT it is slower. The video card may be better but unless you want to play BF2 on High settings that card would be overkill.

That DFI board uses ddr memory not ddr2. The x600 is crap for todays games.

Good eye on the memory, sorry. The X600 will work fine for CS/ CS:S and or UT2k4, As well as Dark Age of Camelot on Highest quality. Trust me I put one into a friends system. He loves it.

I see your a radeon guy jesus, but...it would be stupid, with a $800 budget for a "gaming" computer not to go with at least a 6600gt whichs pawns the X600 AND X700!! I could even reconfigure it to give him a 6800 which is about $190 right now and gives better performance generally than a 6600gt.....this cannot be contested. He will not play doom3, BF2, hl2 and any future games with a X600.....

I personally would rather go with CPU power, he can always upgrade his video card later. I always take power > Video.

it goes video card>ram>cpu
