newbie video card ??????'s

I am thinking of getting the asus a8v 939 atx motherboard. It says it has agp support its provides one8x/4x agp slot.

The video card I am thinking of getting is PNY VCG62256APB Geforce 6200 256MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

the video card picture has the slots dividing into 3 sections while the motherboard slot seems to be divided into 2 sections

Yeah you can put that card in that motherboard.

2 things.

The 128 meg version of that card is faster, due to the fact that the version with 256 of memory has slower memory.

That motherboard is utter crap. I have one and you DO NOT want it. The best board for SKT 939 AGP is the MSI K8N Neo2

I agree. Pci-E is a good investment for now. Though games don't use the full bandwidth of Agp as yet, they will soon enough. Doom 3 and the like did come out and show some very demanding requirements. The future hold much more. Why go for something that will be outdated in a year or two. You'd be glad you spent those few extra bucks!
