Opinions needed?

I would recomend a bigger HD if you are recording in Wav. format
and maybe a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS if you are into music production(or want perfect sound quality) ..but if its just mp3s then you will be fine!

i use adobe adition 1.5. Right now i have a crappy mic, but i plan on getting a condensor. I only need to recorde vocals ans acoustic guitar.

Ok, change of plans. I no long need to buy a copy of widows so that frees up an extra $100 of my budget. I thinking that i make want to get a better video card, cuz i've alwasy been a console gamer, and i'd like to try computer games. What you would recomend?

Ron, hold off on a good audio card until you can spend some cash. I think for around $200 you can pick off a Delta Omni Studio from M-Audio.

It's a phenominal card, with quality preamps. The Audigy 2 doesn't have phantom power for your condenser mic...

yea, that what i was worried about. I didnt' want to have to buy a seperate preamp.

Well the Audigy 2 and cards like that have preamps, but not phantom power for condenser mics. Also, the preamps on the M-Audio board are of much higher quality than the Audigy ones. I love the Audigy (I have the 2 ZS Platinum Pro, in fact), but the M-Audio is strictly studio-quality recording. And, at a good price at that.
