My DVD-ROM Drive stopped working.

I have a HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8162B and it randomly stopped working. I have looked on several websites for help but none have helped. I think it may be a driver issue but I have not been able to find the drivers. Any Help ??

try uninstalling your ide drivers and reboot the computer

Wait do you just mean unistall the normal drivers or something else.

dont you just go into device manager, and uninstall the drive? then reboot.

There's always a possibility of a faulty drive.

DVD-Rom drives are only like $20 off Newegg...

try reinstalling windows first. I had a customer who had this problem. he had no viruses or spyware. nothing seemed funny. but when I reinstalled windows, it fixed the problem

Yeah but I don't have a backup hard-drive at the moment is it completely safe to do that without one ?
