Ok so when I did my 2nd build about a month ago, I used an AMD 3000+ Venice, so I put it in, installed Windows XP, etc..
I go in BIOS and see it is running 33C stock, I am like sweet!
Yadda, I start playing games, it crashes. I figure it's the video card. I get a new one, does the same thing. So now I figure the CPU is overheating. Load temps go to 42C, perfectly fine.
So now I am stumped. I open up the case, feel the HSF, feels fine.
I take the whole HSF off to find that the CPU was stuck under it, it didn't lock in the ZIF socket and was stuck to the bottom of the HSF like glue. After careful prying it came off, where I found the top of the CPU to be burned a little, and the thermal paste everywhere.
What happened I don't know, could be bad sensors, or just a bad CPU.
But I sent it all back and I'm gonna try again -.-
