1st time system builder HEELP!!

Help guys.
Im building my 1st puter and here are the stats:
sempron 2400
512 Mb RAM
ASRock (K7S41) m'board
80Gb HDD
CD-RW
My problem, is that after i connected everything up and switched it on, it got to the boot screen where it asks for the relevant 'F' button, ie. press F2 to enter setup, trouble is my keyboard isn't working (Num Lock + caps lock not working, no lights coming on) even though they are plugged into the PS2 slot at the backk of the m'board.
It does occassionally beep twice and come up with a FDC error msg.
Pls help i am really stuck and am desperate to sort it.

Okay I had this same problem before, really stumped me, for about 10 minutes.

The keyboard had an f-lock key which made the f keys not respond.

If you cant find that, try another keyboard.

Got it sorted. Basically it turns out that the circuitry for the k'board on the m'board was faulty and so i boaught another m'board (cheap one) and fired up the puter and hey presto fingers crossed all is running smoothly.
