Computer locking up when SP2 is installed

I have a computer that locks up during the Windows XP loading Screen (black background, not blue). It seems to only lock up after I install SP2, and after that I can't do anything. Safe Mode locks up, LKGC doesn't work... I'm stumped on this one. When I reformat the Computer (XP Pro), it's fine, but it seems that Service Pack 2 is simply causing it to crash. Any ideas why?

Maybe it's just the way you worded it, but it sounds like you said you loaded sp2 first, and then XP wouldn't load. Am I reading this wrong?

Or do you have an XP disc with sp2 on it already?

try the update before you install sp2
