WAIT...

ATI RADEON X900XT PE (r520) 16 pipelines @ 800MHz/1400Mhz
AND<----> SUPPORTS FRICKIN' PIXEL FRICKIN' SHADER FRICKIN' 3 !!!!
SMOKIN!!!!!

Okay lets assume the 7800GTX and R520 are equal per mhz peformance.

450 (7800GTX clock?) * 24 = 10800
800 (x900 XTPE clock) * 16 = 12800
490 (eVGA 7800GTX KO) * 24 = 11760

Yeah, the X900 could actualyl give the 7800GTX a run for it's money.

But Nvidia obviously has something up it's sleeve :beard:

7800GTX is still around 2000 points under 6800Ultras...but it'd be cheaper.........buuut yeah, theres some peoples machines hitting 10K+ on 3dmark05 with two 6800Ultra SLI'd the 7800's hit 7500 approx so that's a 2500 point difference we're talking about...I wouldn't exactly say that "7800GTX = 6800Ultras SLI'd"
I guess what I was saying is that in FPS at higher resolutions the 7800gtx performed on par with 2 6800ultras SLI'd. I wasn't talking about 3dmark. Your right about the 2500 pt difference which is quite a bit, but you will pay a lot more for 2 ultras than 1 7800.

Exactly what i'm thinking. But, like everything else, it's a waiting game. What will they do next... It's always going to be a war of GFX cards. I think people just need to set a budget and find the best card that suits their needs.

I can fore-see in the next 3-5 years GFX cards anywhere from $800 to $1000 per card. I actually think they will shift to a (GFX UNIT) which will be a stand-alone unit, with it's own case, PSU, GPU or Multiple GPU's, PPU's (Physics Processing Units) and cooling solutions.

I know it sounds crazy... But, wouldn't it be better to have a stand-alone GFX unit outside your PC case then adding more cards, cooling, PSU's, PCI cards... etc inside your PC?

I'm suprised no one has shown any interest towards some of those dual 6800GT cards, I'd easily take one of those inplace of a 7800 or SLI crap

OR some of these damn $2000 graphics budget can try and SLI two dual 6800GT cards. Now that would blow away anything else on the market, mind you I don't know how well that'd work and it'd be pumping tons of heat into your system

Psht I've already thought of that and mentioned it a few times upon seeing pictures of the huge ass video cards like the 6800Ultra 3d1 that has dual cores on one card....

I wouldn't be surprised if it's basically it's own damn graphics processing motherboard with upgradeable GPUs like CPU sockets and addable memory and crap...however, it'd need to somehow fit in one case....2 cases would just be a pain in the ass especially for LANs

I've said that since day 1...I'll take a dual GPU but this SLI crap is a joke.
