I have an Athlon XP 2800+, i was just wondering what is a safe speed to overclock my chip to. I have 4 case fans, and 1 processor fan. I have been weary towards overclocking because i have read in magazine articles that it reduces the life span of the chip itself, and the motherboard. So if anyone has any information, please comment. Thanks.

The best way i would think to overclock an 2800 would be to clock up the FSB from 166 to 200 .. Since AMD fsb are dual pumped .. that would mean an effective FSB of 400Mhz..

But before u overclock .. ensure that u have a good CPU fan .. N' alwayz monitor the temp's ..
The lifespan would reduce only if u run the cpu at high temps .. if the cooling is effective .. then it wouldn't really matter

Yeah, i think before i start overclocking, im going to replace my CPU fan. I have a broken fan blade on it, and i have a feeling its unbalanced because it makes an awful humming/vibrating noise that you can hear throughout the house.
