I have been building a PC from Newegg (except my keyboard), and I would appreciate it if some people here were to take a look.

One thing I want to point out is that instead of the current GFX card on my list, I want a 7800GTX, but my maximum prie I want to spend for the GFX card is right around $500 give or take a few.

Also, my final budget for this system is $1,750, but I would really like to keep it at around $1,600.

$1889. Yes, i know you have a $1600 budget. See what you're willing to cut off here. Let's see getting 1GB ram, will save $100. Not getting Windows XP Pro, at least $50. Etc...

-I would go with the 7800gt or 7800gtx over any radeon product.
-Thats expensive ram, (only buy it if your going to OC it), you could go alot cheaper, with no performance loss.
-With the cheaper ram I would definately go for 2GB
-I would buy a seagate over a maxtor
-Everything else looks good

Ok, going down your list, this is what I would suggest:

Get a SLI motherboard, eventually you will want to slap in another card to avoid having to buy a new system to keep up with technology.

DO NOT get that PE. Especially if you listen to me about the SLI option, get a 6800gt, and pair it later, or do the same with the 7800gtx.

Also, most of the people here will agree not to go with a Maxtor, they fail A LOT. But if you feel like you absolutely like you must have one, at least be smart and get one of their 250GB Diamondmax's with 16MB cache, then you will get a performance boost (if you get one that works ;)).

About what vader pro said about the RAM.... He is right, if you arn't overclocking it you shouldn't get it, which would be stupid not to considering you have a San Diego core'd AMD64. But, here is something that people should start considering... 2 GIG's of ram IS NOT NEEDED right now. BUT.... In the future year or so it will be. So, you will NOT want to have 4x512 sticks to get your two gigs, this will lower the speed they can run at. Instead you will want to have 2x1gig sticks. I guess what you need to wiegh in is whether you want to get the dual channel now with the two 512's, or wait with only one stick of a gig, get another later and then use dual channel. It's a hard choice but no one here can really justify against the other :-\.

EDIT:: The reason no one can view your link is because your system in newegg is secured under your username. I've never done it, but they shoudl either give you a link to use for this, or you can set it to public.

well first off, that is a diamondmax with 16mb cache ;) and also, with the SLI and everything... I need help picking out the case, i also need to know if it has the right connector for my PSU. and I'd be getting a 7800GTX, probably getting another one later. So, pick out a SLI mobo and a 7800GTX i should use because i don't know what to look for. and yes, im OCing my RAM
