Desktops/Startbar not showing up

My startbar and Desktop icons are not starting up when I log on to my computor.

When I log on, All I see is my wallpaper, and thats it. I've tryed rebooting, turning it off and waiting awhile, but to no avail.

the only reason I can post right now is cause when I hit Control+Alt+Delete, and the windows task manager pops up, and I just run stuff from there, by typeing in there command line (C:\ ect).

I really need help with this one.

I ran MSconfig through the windows task manager, and did as you said, but nothing happened.

Open up task manager --> File --> New Task --> explorer.exe

See what that does. Hopefully it will load everything back up.

To fix the problem I recommend booting in safe mode and seeing if the icons and startbar load up. If they do load there, I recommend doing a spyware/virus scan. If they don't load, then you probably will have to reinstall Windows.

When I type that in, it just opens up my documents, but not the startbar or the shortcuts on my decktop.

How do I boot in safemode?

I did run spybot and AVG and they didnt come up with anything.

when the machine is booting, before you see the Xp splash screen, start pressing F8. Do it several times a second. You will get to the boot options screen. Then select safemode.

I don't think this is the problem, but it's worth a shot. Maybe your user profile got corrupted (though that wouldn't explain everything being gone)

Do you have another username you can try and log in under?
