That is an option, but I believe single core is better for gaming and dual core better for multitasking. Plus you jump up another $100 from the 4000 single....theres many ways of doing this, just keep researching.....post other combos if you like.

If you want dual core 4400+ will be the bang for the buck, because of the L2 1MB cache. You are going to get mix opinions about dual cores. My opinion is if you don't mind shelling out that kind of money, go for it.

If you won't be overclocking then get 2 Gigs Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 RAM - $216.

You would save some money if you bought 4 x 512MB, but they would consume more voltage, and the performance gets reduced if you have all 4 DIMM slots running RAM. Don't remember the reason for that, but I think it gets underclocked to DDR333 or something like that.

As for Dual Core; If you're a gamer, then don't bother. If you're a professional who does officework and stuff, then you should consider it.

Personally, I wouldn't get dual core for either. The time to get Dual Core will be somewhere around 2007, IMO.

My video editor friend says you need xtra cooling for 1gb sticks because they run very hot. If you got XP Pro x64, it'll go faster, but with a little more lssues with drivers, ect.

i would save your money and go with the 4000+

the dual core does not have 1MB cache, it has 2MB cache
