You're not going to be able to get it to under $500. Get Corsair ValueSelect, $89, and yea, get the HDD PZEROFGH recommended. 1GB of RAM is what he NEEDS to play the games. With 512, they'll be playable, but not very fun.

let me tell you something a msi k8n neo4 platinum is 110 dollars and an eVGA 6600GT is only 130 dollars thats 240 going with agp is 242. you can save money by going with a pcie mobo. ..wow i thought it wuold be the other way

9600xt is would be worse than the 6200...6600GT would be what he wants for his system.

well if he wants to spend more then 500 its up to him. i say just save up more money. bare with whatever you have and just save up for the ultimate gaming machine later

I agree, save up and get the parts outlines above. $620 would be a safe point. Also, are you sure you don't need a monitor, case, and CD/DVD drive?

First of all ASUS is one of the better mobos MSI is good also Don't get ECS. AMD is the way to go for Gaming or graphics. Go to link below. Intel can't match AMD at this point but they do have stuff in the works they say. Seems they are struggling to keep up nowdays. LOL Get the best you can afford MOBO and Processor then you can upgrade your video card.,ram etc. http://www.amd.com/amd64experience
