so how can i get sp4 when I have no internet on 2000 and no installer work.

First off I would reformat windows 2000. sound like something wrong there

why don't you use ethernet from your internet modem? did it have a network hub? if it didn't I would get a motorola unit that did. USB internet can be a pain in the A$$ to configure.

no i cant this is my extra system my good one the family one is connected directly and this does not have a ethernet port.

It is a fresh install nothing is on it and i just did another on yesterday.
also I am just linking it to my wireless router no networking.

Can you download SP4 onto another computer and burn it to CD? I know i have done that before with some old 2000 systems. I dont know with the new Windows update site you might not be able to.

It is ok I am going linux now I am going to have xp and SuSE in dual boot.
