you exit out of the MCE part and use the xp pro part for that. I think that there is something for aim in MCE though

Mce isn't on all of time unless you want it to be. you can set it to start with windows.

no it is an just add in to xp pro. it organizes your media a lot better than just a regular OS.

italso has a nice caller id sytem if you hook your phone line up. you can see who calling from your computer even when mce isn't on

it is XP pro. it just has media center add to it. it comes on 2 discs instead of 1. with about 26 min left on install, it tell you to put the 2nd disc in for about 3-5 minutes. then you put the first disc (xp pro) back in.

the only feature that you lose is the ability to join a domain (they disable the part, you can still network and have remote access control), but I have a hack to reenable that part

they are promoting it more. when it was 200, nobody was buying it. you can get it now for $130.00
