Alright, so I need a computer for my architecture studio. I'll be running mostly: Photoshop CS, CAD 2004, Studio MAX, VIZ 4, and a Flash studio of some kind. I want a frickin' blazing fast computer to last for the next 2.5 yrs, and I want to build it myself. ..this will be my first shot at buliding my own, and I was wondering if everything was compatible. (I also specifically want to know if I'll need a fan for my hard drive, and if my power supply is large enough.) If anyone has any advice for me I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks

here's what I picked out:

HMM....

Well i like the components you picked out. So if im correct you bought another power supplyy 430 watts? So therefore you are going to remove the one that came with the case ok. 430watt is good i prefer in the 500s but your ok. Umm...I like the graphics card im gettting the same one on January. But i will be on a amd athlon xp. Excellent HD space. Everything looks good but personally i would have went for AMD u r spending like almost 3 grand on ur rig. Also i wouldnt rush any get those items i would shop around first... check out different sites such as... www.newegg.com , www.tigerdirect.com, www.motherboards.com, www.pricewatch.com...etc. these are some good sites check em out.

new egg

thanks, I priced all of these from newegg, and with shipping costs from that site (totaling 36 dollars), I'm not sure if I can do better... I'll still check the other sites though. ...can you give me any specific reasons why I should go with AMD instead of intel, I can't find (though I didn't look hard) an AMD Opteron processor over 2Ghz, and the xeon is 2.8Ghz... I know the opteron's are cheaper, but I'm open to advice.

thanks!

AMD was made to compete with Intel. AMD's are good for gaming and doing graphic design while Intel's are good for encoding and multi-tasking. For your job, i would definitely recommend AMD. It can handle it better than Intel can.

The multicore Opterons were, last I checked, destroying every other processor in the market in both 32 and 64 bit enviroments. They'll be much more expensive than the Xeon you picked out though so of course they'll be better.

You might as well buy the 6600GT if you are interested in the 9800 since the 6600GT will perform much better overall in both OpenGL and Direct3D.

Ditch the HyperX and get value RAM, and if you really care about the absolute fastest a 15K RPM drive is what you want

16ms?!>!>!"<!><!<?!>!?>! anywayws, thats the monitor which is like the MOTHER OF ALL MONITORS or something, i really dont know, but i heard it was the best of all LCDs

i know it sucks, im saying why is it 16ms if its the most expensive 17in monitor on newegg...thats why im going ?!?~?!??!?@!@>?!@#<?!@>
