I am building a new computer for my dad. His old one is a amd k6. He is only going to use this for im'ing and email. I went with a socket 754 because he will never upgrade it. He had a budget of 700 bucks. I went over it by 30. He is pleased with it, but If he was gonna upgrade it, I would have went with the socket 939. Anyways, I have rambled on enough, here is the specs.

TOTAL PRICE 688 DOLLARS WITH WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION!

Lol, I'm not laughing at you, I just thought mabye I could do a little better for him. I had a hard time keeping it at the 700 dollar range. I thought I did real well, and It will last him a very long time. Seeing how he is still using a old amd k6.

Edit: Yes, I had to buy xp as he is currently running windows 95.

man this darn its actually more at the 600 dollar range cause of xp home cost 96 or what dollars

Good job, the only reason I didn't go the socket A route was because I wanted him to atleast have a 64 bit processor. Otherwise I would have gone that route.

ah, i see, i guess you can jujst go with your setup it looks good to me, and its cheap!
