ALSO can i reuse the Windows XP home and microsoft office that came with my current dell dimention 2400, which was incidentaly purchased october of 2003 (if you need to know)???

if not...i think this whole thing might be off becuase of lack of funding.

very nice 15 dollars after mail in rebate

so a total of 581 dollars with a network pci adapter

you may want to use this network pci adapter 41 dollars after mail in rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124115

50 dollars after mail in rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124010
defintely recommending this router and i use the usb adapter but you can use a pci one if you want too

close to around 650 dollars if you really need the wireless router and network adapter

EDIT: this would run Age of Empires 3 on med-high settings just to tell you

you can use previous versions of WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION only unless you have a DIFFERENT cd key for XP PRO cause you can only use one cd key per computer. anyways i use the same cd key from my laptop or more of the product key on different computers and it works. and plus i can validate windows using the same one even if i did it like 20 times. SHHH!

EDIT: question are you going to be OCing cause if your not you dont need that many case fans the 2 stock ones are sufficent enough

EDIT:EDIT: Speculated Minimum System Requirements

Thanks a ton for all the links etc.

but...I cant go many cents over 600 overall, and the reason what i laid out originally was only at 500 was i need to use router/WAC to get online, and i didn't have a dvd drive or floppy (ppl still use it might as well get one)

i plan to pick up a cheap 17" LCD monitor used, if my dad can't hook me up with one; he says his work's recycling and giving away them all 'da time.

ram will be one of the thing i can easily upgrade to 1g, and i'll certainly do so in the coming months.

you say the PSU on that case isn't good. the reason i got that case was because the reviews on newegg said that the PSU was good.

how do you know it isnt any good, does the case damastarr linked to have a better PSU?

I dont plan to do much, if any OC'ing so, untill the heat levels start creeping up, i wont buy some more fans.

and for reusing winxp plus microsoft office, how do the discs know im reusing it. earlier this year we got a new hard drive and reinstalled everything, how did the discs know it wasnt another computer?

so i think that'l work.

Pzerofgh, what you put together is better than what i had, mostly since its athlon 64 instead of athlon xp, and the mobo has a pci-e slot instead of an agp slot, but unfortunatly that could come out to be 40 dollars out of my price range, which is the difference between the athlon xp cpu and the athlon 64 cpu

is the 64 all that better. sure its a bit faster but does that really matter?

the 64 is 64 bit which is ready for windows vista or known as longhorn. the xp is only 32 bit.
the fsb is 333mhz compared to 1Ghz
you wont be able to upgrade casue there making only socket 939 and above. which then you would have to buy a whole New mobo and then processor and video card. so that would save you the hassale of not buying a whole new computer in a year or two and the 64 is better for games and is faster in the overall aspect

EDIT: if you really(i mean REALLY REALLY) want a socket A mobo and around 500 dollars, ill put up some more links for you
