Sorry I dont have xbox live. But your sig is too big (max size is 468x120 pixels), and what don't you understand about custom avatars? How to make them, or how to put them on?

You can use MS Paint, it doesn't matter. Anything that does images.

You can use custom avatars, it doesn't matter how long you've been here.
