I actually read through a little too fast and didn't realize that the 3800 was the X2 dual core. That is actually a very good CPU, but at current will be behind the 3700 in gaming performance until games are written for dual core.

I would definately ditch the USB thing and the network card 100% not necessary. The sound card is up to you but the DFI board has very good onboard sound.

If you want to spend the money the 7800GTX is a hell of a card and is the top card at the moment. The 6800GT is also still very good though and you could save significant change.

Also, I forgot to mention the first time. That monitor you linked to was 25ms response time, no good at all. The one PZEROFGH linked is a very good option.

@PZEROFGH, probably with a new builder, I would ditch the RAID setup, just to keep it simple. I would just recomend a 250gb driver or something. Also, there is no need for the expensive RAM since it doesn't sound like he will be OC'ing, might as well just get some valueram. No difference in stock performance.

am i right idiotec...? but if he gets the money he can alwauys buy another 6800GT.
Yeah, that's it. Yeah, if he wants the possibility to through another 6800GT in there some day, the SLI board is a good option. It is also an excellent board. Just a suggestion to save some money if he wanted. BTW though, you can mod the Ultra-d to an SLI board ;)

this includes everything you need but no shipping

im not sure if you will like the case or speakers, thats up to you...and i wish i had your kind of money

Ok, why do you have two optical drives in your list?? A DVD burner will do everything (CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-ROM, ect).

Also, if he has the money, I'd get the 7800GTX and 2gigs of RAM.

If you want a 19" LCD gaming monitor, this is the best:

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16824116277

Add those upgrades to PZEROFGH's list above and you'd still be under $2,000 which was your price limit to begin with correct?

For direct copies......

I always like to have 2 drives...

why are you trying to spend more moeny here, i mean do you like spending other peoples money, we are trying to give him the best for the minimumest cost

EDIT: whoSE GOING TO BUy a 500 DOLLAR MONITOR when you can get a 7800GTX for that price

He said he was willing to spend up to $2,000. So why shouldn't he spend that and get better performance?
