DOOM, the old ones

OK i was about 4 or 5 when i really started playing Doom, Doom II, and Ultimate doom on DOS/win 95. OK so now im all into the make up of it and i see hte other levels made on doomworld.com. but i wanted to know if any one has any idea how to open hte .wad files i cant wiht and "unzipper"and resource hacker doesnt go quite all hte way. Any help at all. just a scrape at the surface is cool.
