I need a notebook with a screen that is bright enough to be used in a car on a bright sunny day.

Does any body have any experiance with this or any suggestions on what to buy?

Thanks,

GuyM

Yea, sure they do.
You have to do some searching but I was able to find one for a resort a while ago. They wanted to place a touch-screen POS machine outside by the pool, so that guests could get drunk, swim, and take chances. The trick is to locate a LCD screen that has enough of a contrast ratio to handle this sort of brightness. Also, the NIT measurement needs to be fairly high. A normal notebook NIT is around 250 or so. The NIT for an outdoor/readable in direct sunlight is about 1000 or higher. So, the main 2 things you are looking for is:
Contrast ratio of 5:1 or better
NIT of 1000 or better.

uh I don't think they make them that bright
(at least that I have seen)

Youve obviously never been in a police vehicle.

Yea man, they make em that bright. Just do a bit of shopping.

Are the higher resolution displays (SXGA, UXGA) brighter than the standard displays?
