what is the best brand for psu's and what is an average price for a medium quality psu

Tiger Direct is notorious for not handing out its rebates.

I have an X-Connect (500 watt), and its fine, its got steady amps, but i wouldnt try any heavy overclocking on it. It does have 34a on the +12V, and its an okay PSU, but there are better options. Id go with an OCZ Modstream or Powerstream

Wow, alright first things first.

1) tiger direct doesnt handle the rebates first off. You get them off the site, print them out, and send them in with the upc. It is direct with the manufacturer. So obviously they arent notorious for anything, due to the fact you dont know what the hell you are talking about.

2) You ever tested the PSU witha multimeter? Thats pretty much the only way you would know if it has steady amps or not, I assume you are referring to voltage.

Thats my critique.

X-Connects do look nice. However they are nothing except a slightly better generic looking PSU that looks good.

Xconnects are horriable psus there 500W peaks at about 350W.

An antec ocz or enermax is midrange if you want highend your going be paying over $200usd for a pc power and cooling.
