boot with a Knoppix LiveCD and backup your files to cd's(assuming you have a cd-r on that pc) or email them through Knoppix. do a google search on it and see wha it's all about. i think it's the best way

Can a Knoppix CD read/write to a NTFS or FAT partition? I thought it couldn't??

I assume it could I do use Linux but not a Knoppix distro hm maybe it can't but isn't it worth trying?

it can write to FAT systems and NTFS is experimental. however, you don't need to write to those partitions! you'll just read from them and write them on CD using the tools provided by whatever Linux Live distro you use (Damn Small Linux as suggested is a very good choice), usually that tool will be k3b.

where could i find some patch6 cables? and how would i go about useing them

Why don't you just take the old hard drive out and put it in the new computer as slave and then copies the files that you need to the new HDD?

hmmm idea lol

that might work... i might wanna look at some tutorials make sure i don't mess anything?
