This may be of interest to those who have some problems with NSW 2005 on a re-boot where, for example Unerase protection is "off" on a reboot (which then can be re-enabled in Admin Tools/Services. but which fails again on re-booting.
The problem is associated with XP pre-fetcher. This should be disabled either in registry (or using Tweak XP), details of which are found in the one Microsoft entry in Help & Support (search on prefetcher)
Prefetcher shoud be disabled, then re-boot, then re-initialize and re-boot again.
I have found that this will clear any other application hooking or modifying the Win32 version functions.
