Ram Problem

ok I have just installed another stick of PC4200 DDR2 533 into my computer. Windows says I have a gig but when I bring up task manager it says a gig in there too but I always remembered my friends have a gig and their commit charge at the bottom always read xxxM/2460M. Mine says xxxM/1692M, is there something wrong with the way I installed it or not. Here is a picture of task manager:

I believe the reference to 'Total Commit Charge' only indicates the amount of physical and virtual memory which your system is using at that moment.

'Limit' is the total amount of physical and virtual memory your system has.

'Peak', as the name suggests, refers to the upper limit of the total memory you have used this session.

also the toatl generally subtracts shared video memory i think

I was really talking about the bottom right part being different. Like when I run BF2, I take up 1000M with only 692M left. Well my friend takes up the same amount but has 1260M left in the lower right even though we both have a gig.
