Hard drive position question

I've been looking at Antec's minifridge - er, P180 - for my new build, and one thing I can't help but notice is the hard drive cage at the bottom, which houses 4 hard drives but positions them vertically.

I've heard from several people that if you install a hard drive like this, its lifespan will be dramatically shorter than if you installed it horizontally. Is there any truth to this, and if so, why?

i dont think so as long as the are horizontal or vertical it should be fine nothing in between.
