Error when running old progs

just trying to run old progs, like dos progs, and i keep gettin these messages...

can anyone help me out

Are you in x64 by any chance? If so there is your problem. Not much support for 16 bit in the x64 XP. You might be able to do it in 32bit but doubt it also since XP doesnt have DOS at all just the command prompt. If the game runs from DOS you might be able to do it with compatability but i think that only goes to 98 not DOS.

they did work b4, then something happened, and... they stopped working, and gave this message.

Did you install something right before they stopped working? that might be your problem there. Try to run it in compatability mode and see if that solves the issue.

i dont think it was anything i installed... i think it just happenend...

i may have changeed something in an exe at that time, but i dont think that could have caused this

Insert your XP cd disk
go to run

type X:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt

replace X:\ with your CD ROM drive letter.

didnt work from run, so i just went and copied it...
didnt do a thing

Its the characte limit in DOS. Try copying that folder direcly from its current direcoty to the root. So say C:\yourprogram then try it..
