About to build my new PC. Since it cost $900 I don't want to damage anything with Electrostatic Discharge.

What are some tricks to get rid of the static in your hands? I know one is to touch something metal? Will the CPU case work for ridding my hands of static? Will the comp be damaged from the case afterwards?

Just purcahse an antistatic wrist strap, and hook it up to your PC case

Hold all graphics cards and related by the peice of metal that connects them to the case

Sorry, don't wanna wait another week for a wrist wrap to arrive. My electronics store is all out =/ I asked earlier.

Any other ways?

Work on the computer on a desk.
Ground yourself to the metal part of a case before you go reaching in.
Keep everything in it's anti static bag, until needed.
handle everything by the edges.

I used to be really anal about ESD. I used to use a wrist strap and constantly touch the chassis... I don't think i've done any of that in my last 10 builds...

Just be smart, don't build the PC on carpet, or in socks... Just be smart.
