Question on 6600GT

Considering a 6600GT, im mainly intrested in playing half life 2 and BF2. WIll this thing run these games decently??? Thanks for the help im a noob when it comes to this

i just purchased a 6600 GT (havent used it yet) and the reviews on newegg say that it can run doom 3, bf2 and all those games on high without any lag.

I have that card and play those games decently. You will be very happy with your purchase, just dont expect everything on high.

So how big is the difference between the 6600 and the gt version?

Huge. Do not buy the 6600.

And honestly If you really can, try and get the 6800. I was ordering a 6800gt from newegg, instead they sent me a 6800. Got bored and installed it, and there was a pretty big difference between the 6800 and my 6600gt gamewise. Benchmarks only showed a 1000 point increase. HL2 and CSS defualted to everything high 2xAA and 4xAF at 1280*960 @ 50- 96 Fps, when is was normally everything high and no AA or AF at 1280*960 at 40-80 fps.

Same with Battlefield 2, I was able to raise textures to high, and lighting and dynamic shadows to meduim with 2xAA at 1280*960 running 45-60 fps.

Dont get me wrong the 6600gt is an awsome cards, but the 6800 is just that much better.

Won't run it with AA and AF cranked up.

And for some reason, sometimes my 6600GT dislikes BF2, so I have to run it on medium, yeah.

And I score like 9k in 3dmark03
