Yes. Dual Channel has to always be an even number of sticks, with very similar (exact if possible) sticks in each bank.
 
For overclocking, 4x512, but if you arent, 2x 1GB. For some reason, I dont know the technicals behind it yet, 4x 512 sticks will overclock much better than 2x 1GB, even though the seek and access time would be shorter for the 2x 1GB sticks. Use 2x 1GB, it would be quicker.

If the motherboard supports dual channel, and has 4 memory banks, than it will have two dual memory controllers.
