Hello everyone,

Recently I've been considering building a computer (for gaming and listening to music mostly) and since you guys seem like a knowledgable bunch, I threw together a possible build for you guys to critique. Just so you all know, I'm a first-time builder, and I do not plan on overclocking.

I know very little about compatability, and I would appreciate it if any of you would try and explain some of the basics to me. Thanks.

Your video card has to be PCI E nto AGP

I wouldnt recomend that ASUS motherboard. It would be better to get a MSI or DFI nf4 board. The ASUS board is known for bugs.

Are you going to overclock your memory? If not then the value ram is fine, if you are you might want to get something like OCZ Plat Rev's or if thats too much some twinmos.

Great Video Card, Great PSU, Great Processor, Great Hard Drive

You should wait for the 7800GT. It should be out in 2 to 3 weeks and should be the speed of 2 6800GTs in SLI.

There is nothing wrong with Asus, I have had no problems.

Get a SATA drive. It gives a little speed boost over ATA 100.

Don't forget windows or arctic silver 5 if needed. You could also wait for ATI R520 which i hope will smoke nvidias 7800s.

Thanks for all the input, guys.

Just for reference, I don't plan on overclocking.

I read on another site that I might have some issues with the DFI mobo combined with the Corsair RAM, is this true?

Also, I read some customer reviews for the DFI Lanparty mobo and they say it's not for beginners (I am one)?

Ive heard that also.

Does it HAVE to be crosshair?

Buy some value ram off of some1 else if your still not sure.

Does anyone else have comments/critiques for this possible build (particularly the questions in my previous post)?

well i would get a 7800gt if i were u because ATI's chips arent gonna be all there cracked up to be atleast not yeat since they were not able to get the 32 pipes going so they may release a 16 pipe card as the r520 and then the next one will be the 32 pipes but probably wont be out till nest year probably mid for the 32 pipes and sometime this year for the 16 pipes so just get the 7800gtx its out and been out for a while and its 500$
