i hate askin this but i need to know before i waste 250-300$ i was looking at video cards still and i asked between a x800 and a 6800 PCI X cards and everyone said to go with a 6800 because it has more pipes and then after looking online more i found a x800XL which has more pipes than the 6800GT. will i be better off with a 6800gt or a x800xl? i just need a card all around to be able to play doom3 and battlefield 2 not on max graphics but to be able to play my money out it.

thanks for replies but i need an answer that you can support. things like ATI is better doesnt help too much. but i am leaning towards the 6800gt simply because ive had a bad experiance with ati and i wa almost finished with them then they redeemed themselfs. and ati's dont seem as sturdy

Nvidia cards are good at HL2, it's ATI card's that have problems running certain games (doom3, FEAR)

6800GT and x800XL have same amount of pipes, but the 6800GT supports Shader Model 3.0 which makes some games look all good.

Get the 6800GT. It creams the 9800 in the benchies. Period.

And don't go to Anandtech and ask.
