They're both the same speed---7200RPM. I would get the Seagate, just because they're more reliable in my experience.

I say Seagate for reliablitity.

Most ppl here will tell you that Maxtor HD's can either come out great or just horribly suck lollipops.

Well. The Maxtor has a bigger cache. Thats nice.

But, i heard they tend to be noisy, and not all that reliable. Seagate.

If you are looking for speed, RPM speed is a bigger performance booster than buffer size

Good because that's all I buy is seagate. I just didn't know it the 16mb cache would do anything for it.

I think the Maxtor is faster.. Based on previous reviews I have read. The higher buffer I am sure help it in that regard for sure. In anycase, the speed increase is only marginal IMO. You are better off getting the Seagate. More reliable.

Ditto, the Maxtor are flaky drives.

If you want high speed drives, check out western digital raptors, or 15000 RPM scsi drives.

yea f u want some killer speed get a 10000 rpm 74 gig drive or something but il say seagate also
