With this configuration you should be able to stop spyware dead in its tracks. But beware, that you can get spyware thru P2P software and other various software on the internet. It is so vital to read the EULA on each and every piece of software you install. Also never install any "toolbars" or "helpers". They are most likely spyware related.

The reason this post was made, is because after hearing alot of people saying that they still get spyware with firefox, and how they think it is junk. FireFox is one of the best browsers out there.

Things to do before using firefox:

1. Disable "Allow websites to install software"
2. Enable "Block Pop-up windows"


To get to these settings go to
TOOLS> OPTIONS> WEB FEATURES

Also some AntiVirus software is highly recommended, because there is malicious code in certain websites.

Bazooka Scanner is also recommended for easy spyware detection. What is so great about this program, is that it is free, easy to use, and uses very little resources. Also the programs maker is in no way afillated with any spyware/adware company. This program is great to use to make sure that your computer is spyware free. Like I said, you wont get spyware thru FireFox, but you will thru downloading programs, and using P2P software.

Just wait until the spyware/virus writers/exploiters catch up with Firefox, which they will. Theres always buffer overflow or other types of holes to exploit in almost any software.

It kind of gives me a chuckle to hear that Firefox is starting to see some actual spyware, which I hadn't known about. I'd love to be vindicated in my opinion that the most exploited software is just the most used software.

the problem with the most used software when they owned market like IE (MS) and norton, is that they don't care about fixing the problems until somebody smaller comes out with a new program to steal people away from theirs.

Nothing will happen to firefoc till it gets popular and it is already too welcomed in opinion. When someone writes a virus or spyware for Firefox it will affect the following broswers.

but the developer there, create a fix as sooon as it's discovered. which is why FF is on it4 th verison now. MS has never cared until FF came out about patching holes in IE (they use to take their time, if they did anything at all)

Here is a tweak to make firefox work much faster.

Open Firefox.
Type "about:config" in the address bar (no quotation marks).
Locate the following options, double click each one and change to the values listed below:

network.http.max-connections: 48

network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6

network.http.pipelining: true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 32

network.http.proxy.pipelining: true

That works great....... Instead of taking 1 second for ebay or yahoo to load, it now only takes like .3 seconds.

No but that would not work anyways I don't think WinXP Pro SP2 limates the number of connections a program can have to the net there are registry hacks to make the limate move up to 50 but I'm not one to hack my registry.
