ddr frequency compatibility

hey guys,

i wondered if u cud help me, i was wondering if i cud put pc2700 ddr memory in a board which only supports pc2100, and then it will just run at 266mhz (pc2100).

i had the system up and running, but now im having problems, cud this be the reason?

probably and in fact most probably yes . well consider yourself lucky as it did not created any problems at the time of installation but it maybe acting differently now

wel it was taking forever to shut down under win 2k, and eventually wudnt startup, it just kept resetting when getting to the windows is starting up screen.

I have replaced the memory,a d it did the same again, so i have repaired the installation of win 2k, and this seems to have done the trick.........for now

Any suggestions??
