intel pentium w/MMX tech 200mhz

Can someone help me my computer detects the 200 mhz cpu as 166 and it seems to heat up very quickly even though it has a fan

check the bios settings as you can also change the processor speed but heating up of the proceesor is mainly because of three reasons
1) the CPU fan is not working properply . it may be showing it is moving but it is not working properly
2) the processor is partially or completely damaged (partially in your case )
3) there is a misconnection of a wire on motherboard

I put up an extra fan and i had to change the jumpers a bit like this motherboard from thie site: http://th99.pley.org/m/S-T/35526.htm
