my friend's hp scanjet3300c (usb connection) are not detected by his window 98? Before that the scanner still can use, but now he couldnt find scanner icon in control panel. He tried to reinstall the driver but still the scanner not detected. Is it caused by window problem ?

are you saying that it worked but then stopped? what changed, if anything in the computer before it stopped working.

it could be that the usb ports on the computer have been disabled. i have had problems with usb devices many times that turned out to be caused by this. go into the BIOS setup and look through the categories for "onboard usb" and make sure it is enabled
it could be the scanner usb ports are 2.0 and since its windows 98 i dont think they come with 2.0 ports but if it worked before that shouldnt be the problem but i would try seeing if the usb ports have been disabled for some reason like he said and if it that didnt work i would take your computer to me and let me fix it =) i only charge 25 an hour
